For many countries, the EUR1 document is not a compulsory document. You may however benefit from this document. The European Union has made arrangements with a number of countries, as a result of which a discount or even exemption from import duties is granted in the case of mutual imports. These are what we call free trade agreements. A product must be of 'preferential origin' in order to qualify.
